With our new Star Ratings feature, your readers can easily rate your posts — or the things you post about — from one star to five stars with a single click, right from the post footer.Think of Star Ratings as a mini-poll for each of your posts. If you blog about fashion, food, crafts, quotes, or art we think this will be particularly useful to you.
To enable Star Ratings, log it to http://draft.blogger.com/ and go to your Layouts page. From there, click the “Edit” link for the Blog Posts page element and then check the “Show Star Ratings” checkbox.
Additional Notes
- This is a Layouts-only feature. If you’re using a Classic template you’ll need to upgrade to Layouts to add Star Ratings.
- The star ratings widget should blend seamlessly with most solid-colored blog backgrounds (one exception is Rounders, where the edges of the widget will be visible via a color change). The text and background colors for the ratings are taken from the following skin variables:
- Foreground: textcolor, textColor
- Backrgound: mainBgColor, bgcolor
- If you have customized your blog widget’s template you may not see the Star Ratings. You will need to either reset your blog widget’s template or copy the Star Ratings code from a fresh template.

I've really been looking forwards to this feature. The one suggestion I have for improvement is a dashboard feature showing the highest rated post(s). It should be relatively simple to even add a widget which shows the most popular posts. Otherwise, great job

Thanks Blogger! My only request would be an ability for users to see the "average rating" for all of the rated posts (and post a widget on their sidebar reflecting that).

it seems that the rating gadget doesn't display in browser like Opera and Firefox
Nice feature, it should help to get at least the minimum feedback from those who don't dare (or don't know) how to write a comment. But in the blog templates with a background image it does not look good, e.g. in the Scribe template I use. I will try to play with the background color instead, maybe that'll improve it a bit.

I was having problem activating this feature too.Then I remembered an old and simple solution. Instead of resetting all the widgets…just reset the one that we are modifying.

Why not merge the 10-stars into 5-stars like on YouTube?
I have had to stop using star ratings after it caused my copy of Firefox 2.0 running on Mac 10.5.3 to repeatedly hang. My template has not been customised. It's a pity because I liked the feature, though it would be nice if there was somewhere to view summary statistics. I have over 600 posts and I don't want to check each post individually to see how it has been rated.

Great feature. However, it repeatedly hangs Firefox 2.0.0.14 (I'm using star ratings in combination with per-post script from Feedburner).
I have a customized Blogger template, the star ratings didn't work before. I edited my template and was able to insert the star rating into my blog. Here's how I did it if it's any help to you:

I think this control needs work in terms of it's appearance. I tried adding it in the in the first line after the post body, but it's lot taller and seems to mess up the look. Had to abandon it.
It don't work for my test-blog too. I think that I will try again in next weekend.

What I personally think — it would be much better not to have star ratings from 1 to 5, but just [+] [-] buttons. If someone likes a post — he (or she) just pushes the [+] button, if not — the [-] button.
This is much more simple for a visitor to deside. I hate rating anything with the stars method — I do not like to think about how good this post was towards the others, I just like to express that I like the post. As for me — I will never rate any post with stars system.
Just give us +/-! ;-)

Enabling Star Ratings didn't work for me either at first. So I figured out a workaround.
Instead of resetting your widgets (which could potentially mess up customization tweaks you did to your blog), just add the Star Rating code...
You'll have to contact me if you need it because Blogger in Draft won't allow me to copy/paste the code into the comment section here. Sorry.
Star-ratings has built a little bit of interactivity on each post. I think this is a very cool feature.

Hi everyone,
I followed the advice of darnellclayton.com (see comment above) and got it working on my blog.
I had a customized template and so the Star Ratings widget didn't work at first. I had to backup my customized template and click on "Revert widget templates to default". After doing this I got the code that has to do with the Star Ratings widget and placed it on my customized template.
One thing that must be clarified is that you must wait the page to load so that the Star Ratings widget appears.

I REALLY love this. However, this only shows up with a white background. Since a lot of blogs (including mine) like this feature implemented but have image [and colour] backgrounds, I would really like to see an option to customize the background image/colour via "configure blog posts" or by the ability/knowledge to change the background through "edit html" under "layouts". yep, outbrain worked great on my blog with background image, if you want it in every post make sure you go to Layout, Edit HTML, select the box to expand widgets, then do a search on the code for "div post footer" and after this line paste the code and you are done...

You can customize (colors/size),prevent duplicate rating, identify the city location of the raters and it lists the top rated blogposts in the sidebar of your blog.

Hey, big surprise... This doesn't work in Opera. Google are strange people. NO way of contacting a real person (believe me, I've tried), pretty secretive and company policy is anti-Opera. This is getting tiresome.
