Make sure you’re signed in with the same Google account you use on Blogger in order to start posting.
Currently, the gadget supports the following:
- Editing the HTML of title, body and labels
- A drop-down menu to select from multiple blogs (if you have them)
- The ability to publish a post immediately, or save it back to Blogger as a draft post
Some compatibility notes:
- The Blogger posting gadget will only work in iGoogle, not in other gadget containers, because it requires authenticating with your google.com cookie. We hope to remove this restriction in the future.
- Since this gadget uses the JavaScript Google Data API for Blogger, it does not work in Apple’s Safari browser. We hope to fix this in the future as well.
We’re also hearing reports that the gadget is not working correctly in Internet Explorer. We’re looking into this. Now works in Internet Explorer; you may need to remove and re-add the gadget to pick up the fix.
- Availability in all of Blogger’s supported languages
- Auto-completion for labels
- Autosaving of posts
- Rich text editing
Update, 3:15PM: Added compatibility note about Internet Explorer.
Update, 6/10: Fixed to work in Internet Explorer.

I installed the gadget. However, it tells me "please sign in to start posting".
1. I am signed in, both to iGoogle and blogger.
2. My blogger id and google id are the same. Any ideas?

Me too !
Wait and see...
I just installed this new feature and I LOVE IT. Sometimes I just want to do a quick post, and this is perfect. I can't wait for the rich text editor. Between this and blogging directly from Picasa, I might never need to go to my dashboard again! I'm using firefox, and it is working great.
I can understand your reason for adding more conveniences for Blogger Members, but this is an overkill, in my opinion. If a member wants to create a blog post, I can't see running to iGoogle to do it. If a member is already on iGoogle, and wants to create a new blog post, imagine how easy it will be to open a new post page on blogger, in a new tab. Or make it even easier by using Scribefire. They've been supporting Blogger since day 1.
As a lot of people already know, popular social bookmarking sites have a bookmarklet script that is added to the browser, that creates a pop-up, so that a member can very easily add a bookmark to their favorite social bookmarking site without visiting that social bookmarking site, and without leaving the site they are bookmarking. The same type of script can be created to easily open a pop-up new post page for Blogger, so bloggers can easily create a new post on-demand. No matter what web page they're on.
On another note, what I would like to see is a "Tag This Blogger" link on blogs, so we can connect to like-minded people on our own blogs. That blogger can then be notified that someone has tagged them, and also given the option to Tag-Back. The more people that have tagged a blogger, the more "Authority" that blogger will have. Similar to Technorati's Authority, but made exclusively for Blogger.

I'm getting the dreaded Script not responding error. I canceled it, and it seems to be working. It's on the wrong tab of course...
I'm getting the 'please sign in to start posting' error, yet I'm clearly signed in already.
I'm using Opera, FYI. :S
For me to even consider using this, I'll need the rich text editing (or at least picture upload) and the ability to post/date in the future...
I'm not entirely sure of the use-case for this -- I can envision using it for what are basically draft "notes" or "reminders" for posts -- similar to writing a post idea on a sticky, except available as a draft in blogger.
hello! sorry for this comment but today all the scheduled posts were not published on the time selected. Something is wrong today....
This was checked in 4 different blogs i have, in English and Greek.
Thank you a lot!
Stephen: Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. My feeling is, if there's a place to have a Blogger post editor, we should offer folks the option of putting one there. The easier it is to post, the better.
As for a pop-up bookmarklet, we actually have one, though I don't fault you for not knowing because we don't do a good job of telling people about it. It's called BlogThis! and it's available at its help article.
Feroz: Looks like we may have Opera issues as well as IE. We're looking at it.
Sara: Thanks for the feature requests!
Simos: Yeah, scheduled post publishing is having a bit of a problem. We have a known issue up about this.
Thank you, Pete
For telling me about Blog This!
It's a really nice feature, although it does open up in a new tab on Firefox, instead of a pop-up window.
This isn't necessarily a bad thing, although it would be more suitable as a pop-up window that appears in front of the page that you wish to blog about.
I will keep it handy in case Scribefire becomes too complex for it's own convenience. With anything, the more features that are added, the more complex it can become.
Stephen: Hrm. Blog This! is supposed to be in a pop-up. The new tab thing is Firefox being weird.
Don't know where else to put this....
Post Options for future posting is claimed to be fixed, but it still doesn't work for me.
I believe there are still monkeys in the wrench....
Can you IT wizbangs look into this?
Ficou legal, até que deu uma limpadinha no painel. O bem mesmo é que você agora pode posta diretamente do google

Very useful tool !
Surely , it will make blogging easy !
Thanks to the developer team !
I tried over and over to add a URL address to my newly created Blog List and kept getting a message that the blog didn't exist - it does for sure - I gave up and went back to entering as a Link and that works. What's up with that? 2 out of 3 that I entered worked fine. If it works with Links why not with Blog List?
scott, jean-noël, and other Internet Explorer users: We've updated the gadget to fix the issue where it says "Please sign in to start posting" in Internet Explorer when you're already signed in. You may have to remove the gadget and re-add it to pick up the fix. Thanks for the bug reports!
feroz: Unfortunately this fix does not make the gadget work in Opera. :(
Absolutely great!!! Thanks. Needed this.
Just waiting for Jaikus to be integrated as mini-posts on my Blogger blog. Can someone think about this?
Hmmm, still having problems. IE7 used both at home and work. Gadget (usually!)loads fine first time I open iGoogle homepage, but after I do a post or even navigate away from the page it sort of sticks on 'loading'. I've tried deleting the gadget and re-installing, no joy....any ideas?
@Fran Correas, Have you checked out the API link at the very bottom of the Jaiku website?
@Mo, Please try holding down Ctrl on your keyboard, and pressing F5. That will by-pass the cache. Hope it works for you.
no se puede instalar el gadget, no da redireccionamiento

can you install a category system
Will BlogThis! be updated with the new post editor? The thing I dislike about BlogThis is it doesn't have all the features of posting a new blog (e.g. labels). I have to post on BlogThis and then go into blogger to edit the post.
Hi all! We pushed this feature to the WWW site, so I'm closing off comments here. Thanks for your feedback!
